Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When any one of you lies down on his bed, he should shake out his bed with the edge of his lower garment, for he does not know what may have come onto it in his absence. Then he should recite this supplication: «اَللّٰهُمَّ بِكَ وَضَعْتُ . . . . . . الخ» O Allah! In Your name I have laid down my side (on the bed), and in Your name I will rise. If You take my soul, then forgive it, and if You release it (keep me alive), then protect it as You protect Your righteous servants."
