Salim bin Abi Al-Ja'd says: I heard Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) say: Thirst overcame us (this is the incident of the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah), we began to cry and went to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He placed his blessed hand on a vessel, and water began to gush forth from his fingers as if they were springs of water. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Begin in the name of Allah." The narrator stated: Then we drank the water and it was sufficient for all of us (in the narration of Bukhari: we drank and performed ablution). In the narration of Amr bin Murrah, we asked Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him): How many people were you at that time? He said: (1500) fifteen hundred (in Bukhari it is 1400, fourteen hundred). If we had been one hundred thousand, that water would have been sufficient for us.
