Hadith 2650

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) made an agreement with the people of Khaybar on the basis of sharecropping, for half (one-half share) of the crops and dates.

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 2649)

From this hadith, it is understood that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) made a sharecropping contract with the Jews of Khaybar regarding the land, which continued until the beginning of the caliphate of Sayyiduna Umar (radi Allahu anhu). However, due to the Jews’ continuous mischief, he expelled the people of Khaybar from there.

This hadith provides evidence for dealing with non-Muslims, and for entering into partnerships with them in trade and agriculture.
