Jarud said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The lost property of a Muslim is a burning coal, the lost property of a Muslim is a burning coal, the lost property of a Muslim is a burning coal, do not go near it." Jarud said: A companion asked: O Messenger of Allah! If we find something fallen, then what should we do? He said: "Announce it, do not conceal it, nor hide it; if its owner comes, hand it over to him, otherwise it is the property of Allah which He gives to whomever He wills." (That is, if no one comes to claim it, then you may take it, Allah has given it to you.)
