It is narrated from Sayyiduna Thawban (may Allah be pleased with him), the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whoever's soul departs from his body while he is free from three things will enter Paradise: arrogance, theft, and debt."

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadiths 2626 to 2628)
From this hadith, it is understood that a person who is arrogant, one who commits betrayal or theft, and one who is in debt will not enter Paradise. And if a servant does not possess these three traits, then he will certainly enter Paradise, provided that he has not fallen into shirk (associating partners with Allah), because shirk is such a sin that, without repentance, it will never be forgiven. And the person whose deeds include the commission of major sins (kaba'ir), he will definitely enter Paradise after receiving his punishment in Hell, as is mentioned in the hadith: «مَنْكَانَفِيْقَلْبِهِمِثْقَالُحَبَّةٍمِنْإِيْمَانِدَخَلَالْجَنَّةَ ، أَوْكَمَاقَالَالنَّبِيُّصَلَّياللّٰهُعَلَيْهِوَسَلَّمَ.»
