باب الرُّخْصَةِ في اقْتِضَاءِ الْوَرِقِ مِنَ الذَّهَبِ:Chapter: Permission to repay silver with gold
Hadith 2617
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ سِمَاكِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: كُنْتُ أَبِيعُ الْإِبِلَ بِالْبَقِيعِ فَأَبِيعُ بِالدَّنَانِيرِ، وَآخُذُ الدَّرَاهِمَ، وَأَبِيعُ بِالدَّرَاهِمِ وَآخُذُ الدَّنَانِيرَ وَرُبَّمَا قَالَ: أَقْبِضُ فَأَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، رُوَيْدَكَ أَسْأَلُكَ: إِنِّي أَبِيعُ الْإِبِلَ بِالْبَقِيعِ فَأَبِيعُ بِالدَّنَانِيرِ، وَآخُذُ الدَّرَاهِمَ، وَأَبِيعُ بِالدَّرَاهِمِ وَآخُذُ الدَّنَانِيرَ . قَالَ: "لَا بَأْسَ أَنْ تَأْخُذَ بِسِعْرِ يَوْمِكَ، مَا لَمْ تَفْتَرِقَا، وَبَيْنَكُمَا شَيْءٌ".
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) said: I used to sell camels near Baqi‘, selling them for dinars and then taking dirhams, and selling them for dirhams and then taking dinars (in some narrations, instead of "taking," the word is "receiving," both have the same meaning). Then I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! Please wait, I want to ask you a question. I sell camels near Baqi‘ for dinars and take dirhams, and sometimes I sell for dirhams and take dinars. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There is no harm if you take it according to the rate (price) of that day, as long as you do not separate while leaving something due upon one another (i.e., settle accounts before parting)."
