It is narrated from Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The one who brings goods from outside will be provided with sustenance, and curse will be upon the one who hoards and stores them."

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 2579) The prohibition of hoarding (ihtikar) has also come in many other authentic ahadith, and in the aforementioned hadith, there is a curse upon the one who hoards. Imam Nawawi rahimahullah said: The hoarding that is forbidden is the hoarding of grain and foodstuffs, with the conditions that have been mentioned above, that is, when there is a shortage of grain or it is not available at all and people are in need of it, and then someone withholds it so that the price will rise and he will sell it later—then this is forbidden, because for his own small benefit he causes hardship and harm to people, and causing hardship to people is a very great sin.
