Hadith 2562

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), it was said to Shareek: Did he narrate from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)? He said: Yes, there is no covenant or pact in Islam (i.e., such an agreement in which one would help in both oppression and truth), and the covenants and pacts that existed in the time of ignorance—Islam has made them more strict and serious.

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 2561)

It is permissible to make a pact or agreement for the purpose of obtaining one’s rightful due or for the defense of one’s life and property. However, if someone commits oppression, forcibly usurps another’s wealth, or engages in killing and bloodshed, then such a pact or agreement is not permissible in Islam.
