أَخْبَرَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: "لَوْلا الْهِجْرَةُ، لَكُنْتُ امْرَءًا مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ".
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If there had been no migration, I would have been one of the Ansar."

From this hadith, the virtue of the Ansar is established. In this very hadith, it is stated that if all people were to walk in one valley and the Ansar in another valley, then I would walk in the valley of the Ansar.
