Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: On the occasion of Hudaybiyyah, we were one thousand four hundred men. We pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) was holding his hand under the tree (shade); it was a samurah tree (a wild tree found in the desert, and it is probably called the keekar tree). We pledged allegiance to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) not to flee from him, not to pledge allegiance to death.
