It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Strive against the polytheists with your lives, your wealth, and your tongues."
From this hadith, it is understood that jihad is also performed with wealth and the tongue, just as it is performed with one's life. Jihad with one's life means to fight against the enemy, to entrust one's life to Allah, to be wounded, or to be honored with martyrdom (shahadah).
Jihad of the tongue is to mention the virtues of jihad, to warn against disbelief (kufr) and the evil of the disbelievers (kuffar), to supplicate against the disbelievers, and to pray for the Muslims.
Jihad with wealth is well-known: to spend one's wealth in the path of Allah, to participate in the preparation for jihad, and to equip those who do not possess the necessary means and equipment.
It has been mentioned previously that jihad is not an individual obligation (fard ayn) upon every Muslim, but no one should lag behind in the jihad of the tongue and wealth.
