باب مَا يُسْتَحَبُّ مِنَ الْخَيْلِ وَمَا يُكْرَهُ:Chapter: Preferred and Disliked Horses
Hadith 2465
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ، حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ، عَنْ عُلَيِّ بْنِ رَبَاحٍ، عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ: أَنَّ رَجُلًا , قَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، إِنِّي أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَشْتَرِيَ فَرَسًا، فَأَيُّهَا أَشْتَرِي ؟ . قَالَ: "اشْتَرِ أَدْهَمَ، أَرْثَمَ، مُحَجَّلًا، طَلْقَ الْيَدِ الْيُمْنَى، أَوِ مِنَ الْكُمَيْتِ عَلَى هَذِهِ الشِّيَةِ، تَغْنَمْ وَتَسْلَمْ".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that a companion said: O Messenger of Allah! I want to buy a horse, so which horse should I buy? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Buy a black horse which has whiteness on its nose and upper lip, and also whiteness on its legs, except that there should not be whiteness only on the right foreleg, or buy a black horse with a reddish tinge and these markings. You will gain spoils (of war) and, by Allah’s permission, you will remain safe."
