Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) said that (his maternal aunt) Sayyida Umm Haram bint Milhan (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated to me a hadith that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) once took a midday nap in her house. When he woke up, he was smiling. Sayyida Umm Haram (may Allah be pleased with her) said: I asked, “O Messenger of Allah! What made you smile?” He replied: “I saw (in a dream) some people from my Ummah riding on the sea (going out for jihad) as kings ride on thrones (ascend).” I said: “Pray to Allah for me that He makes me among them.” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “You will be among them.” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) then slept again, and when he woke up, he was again smiling. I asked: “O Messenger of Allah! Why are you smiling?” He replied: “I saw some people from my Ummah riding on the sea as kings sit on thrones.” I said: “O Messenger of Allah! Pray to Allah that He makes me among them.” The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “You will be among the first group.”
The narrator said: Sayyiduna ‘Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him) married her (Sayyida Umm Haram, may Allah be pleased with her) and took her with him in the naval expedition, and on the return, a mount was brought near for her so that she could ride it, but it threw Sayyida Umm Haram (may Allah be pleased with her) down, crushed her neck, and she passed away.

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 2457)
The dreams of the Prophets are also revelation (wahy) and inspiration (ilham). The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam saw in a dream that some people from his ummah, with great dignity and grandeur, were riding over the sea like kings. Eventually, this dream of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was fulfilled, and the Muslims, under the leadership of Sayyiduna Muawiyah radi Allahu anhu, prepared a naval fleet to wage jihad against Rome.
Sayyidah Umm Haram radi Allahu anha also participated in this battle along with her husband, and in accordance with the prophecy of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, during the caliphate of Sayyiduna Uthman radi Allahu anhu, she joined the naval fleet of Sayyiduna Muawiyah radi Allahu anhu, and on the return journey, she fell from her mount and was martyred. According to the Qur’an and Hadith, any group that sets out for jihad and dies a natural death on the way is also considered a martyr (shaheed).
From this, it is established that women may also set out for jihad. Sayyidah Umm Haram radi Allahu anha was the foster maternal aunt of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, which is why he used to visit her. She was as compassionate and kind to him as a mother and used to serve him.
