Hadith 2431

أَخْبَرَنَا نُعَيْمُ بْنُ حَمَّادٍ، حَدَّثَنَا بَقِيَّةُ، عَنْ بَحِيرٍ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ مَعْدَانَ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ يَخَامِرَ، عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: "مَنْ قَاتَلَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ فُوَاقَ نَاقَةٍ، وَجَبَتْ لَهُ الْجَنَّةُ . وَهُوَ قَدْرُ مَا تَدُرُّ حَلَبُهَا لِمَنْ حَلَبَهَا".
Sayyiduna Mu’adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever strives in the path of Allah for the duration it takes to milk a she-camel twice, Paradise becomes obligatory for him. And this is such a short time that the milker milks and the she-camel lets down her milk.”
Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 2430)
The meaning of "milking again" is that when the milk of an animal is extracted, the animal withholds its milk, then if it is left for a short while, it fills its udder with milk again, and then the milking is started anew. These are the meanings of «فُوَاقَ نَاقَةٍ», and by this is meant a very short period; that is, whoever participates in jihad even for such a brief duration with sincere intention, Paradise becomes obligatory for him. From this, the virtue of jihad is understood.
