It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that a companion from the tribe of Aslam came to the service of the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and stated that he had committed adultery, and he confessed four times that he had committed adultery. Therefore, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered that he be stoned to death because he was married.

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 2351)
The punishment for one who commits adultery (zina) willingly and with consent is as follows: if the person is unmarried, then one hundred lashes; if married, then stoning to death (rajm), that is, being killed by stones, so that no one dares to commit this heinous act.
And for the implementation of the prescribed punishment (hadd), the testimony of four witnesses is necessary, but if a person confesses, then the hadd for zina will be enforced upon him.
It is stated in the Noble Qur’an: «﴿الزَّانِيَةُوَالزَّانِيفَاجْلِدُواكُلَّوَاحِدٍمِنْهُمَامِائَةَجَلْدَةٍ .....﴾ [النور : 2]» meaning, “The woman and man guilty of adultery, flog each of them with a hundred stripes…” This command is for the unmarried, and the punishment for a married adulterer or adulteress is not present in the Noble Qur’an; its recitation has been abrogated, which is established from authentic ahadith.
The details of this agreed-upon (muttafaqun alayh) hadith are coming ahead. Some scholars have said that it is not necessary to have the confession made four times; even if the confession is made once, it is sufficient for the enforcement of the hadd.
