Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Lady Sahla bint Suhail bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with her), who was married to Abu Hudhaifah bin Utbah bin Rabi’ah (may Allah be pleased with him), came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: The slave of Abu Hudhaifah, Salim, comes to our house and I am in my ordinary home clothes, and we consider him as our child, and Abu Hudhaifah had adopted him just as the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had adopted Zaid bin Harithah (may Allah be pleased with him), until this verse: «﴿ادْعُوهُمْلِآبَائِهِمْ ...... ﴾»[احزاب: 5/33] was revealed. In any case, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered her to breastfeed Salim. Imam Darimi (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Breastfeeding an adult was specific only to Salim. That is, if any other adult drinks milk, the prohibition will not be established.

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 2293)
In the narration of Sahih Bukhari, it is mentioned that the wife of Sayyiduna Abu Hudhayfah radi Allahu anhu said: “O Messenger of Allah! Now Salim has grown up; how can I give him milk?” The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam smiled and said: “I have come to know that he has become a man; go and give him milk.”
The purpose of this was to remove any apprehension from her husband’s heart, so that there would be no need for strict observance of veiling and hardship in coming and going within the house.
This hadith indicates the establishment of prohibition (of marriage) through the suckling (radā‘ah) of an adult, and this is the position of Sayyidah A’ishah radi Allahu anha and Dawud al-Zahiri.
However, this is in opposition to the first hadith, in which it is mentioned that if suckling is established within two years, then prohibition is established—which is the position of the majority of scholars. They have responded to the aforementioned hadith of Salim by saying that this ruling was specific only to Sayyiduna Salim radi Allahu anhu, as Imam al-Darimi rahimahullah has also mentioned.
Imam Ibn Taymiyyah rahimahullah said that, in the matter of suckling, only the period of childhood (the period of suckling) will be considered, except in the case when a need or necessity arises, such as the issue of the suckling of an adult man for whom it is unavoidable to go to a woman, and for whom it is difficult for the woman to observe veiling from him—as was the case of Sayyiduna Salim radi Allahu anhu with the wife of Sayyiduna Abu Hudhayfah radi Allahu anhu. In such a case, when a woman gives her milk to an adult man out of necessity and need, then his drinking of the milk will be effective.
An objection arises here: how did Sayyidah Sahla radi Allahu anha give milk to a grown man? Qadi ‘Iyad answered this by saying that it is possible that Sayyidah Sahla radi Allahu anha expressed the milk and gave it to him, and there was no occasion for exposing or touching the breast, nor did their bodies come into contact (end of his statement).
Furthermore, even if it was given directly from the breast, it is possible because Sayyiduna Salim radi Allahu anhu was her foster child from childhood and like a son to her, and she did so on the command of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam; therefore, there is no objection.
