Sayyiduna Mughira bin Shu’bah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was informed that Sayyiduna Sa’d bin ‘Ubadah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: “If I see a man with my wife, I will strike him with the sword and never spare him.” The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Are you amazed at Sa’d’s sense of honor? I am more possessive than him, and Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, is more possessive than me. It is due to His sense of honor that He has forbidden indecency, both open and hidden. And there is no one more possessive than Allah. And there is no one who loves to accept excuses more than Allah, so He sent the Prophets as bearers of glad tidings and as warners (so that the servants may present their excuses and repent before punishment). And there is no one who loves to be praised more than Allah, so Allah has promised Paradise (so that the servants may worship and praise Him and thus attain Paradise).”

Hadith Gradingتحقیق (حسین سلیم أسد الدارانی):إسناده صحيح وابن عدي هو: زكريا والحديث متفق عليه، [مكتبه الشامله نمبر: 2273]
The incident concerning Sayyiduna Sa'd bin 'Ubadah al-Ansari radi Allahu anhu is as follows: When the noble verse «﴿وَالَّذِينَيَرْمُونَالْمُحْصَنَاتِ﴾ [النور : 4]» was revealed, the meaning of which was that those who accuse free (i.e., chaste) women and cannot bring witnesses against them, then flog them with eighty lashes, at that time Sayyiduna Sa'd bin 'Ubadah radi Allahu anhu said: "O Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam! If I were to see such a forbidden act, I would neither scold nor turn away, nor would I bring four witnesses; rather, I would immediately deal with it myself. By the time I bring witnesses, the adulterer would have already left after committing adultery."
Upon this, the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said to the Ansar: "Are you listening to the words of your leader's sense of honor?"
The Ansar replied: "O Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam! He possesses a great sense of honor in his temperament, so do not reproach him. He has always married virgin girls, and if he divorced (a wife), then due to his sense of honor, none among us ever had the courage to marry that woman." (Raaz rahimahullah)
From this hadith, it is understood that one should avoid shamelessness and a person should be honorable (possess ghayrah). If one sees anything contrary to the Shari'ah among his family and dependents, he should immediately rectify it. And the person who sees evil and still remains silent is a "dayyuth" (cuckold, one who has no sense of honor).
