It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Jews said to the Muslims: "Whoever has intercourse with his wife from behind, his child will be born cross-eyed." So Allah Almighty revealed this noble verse: «﴿نِسَاؤُكُمْحَرْثٌلَكُمْ ......﴾»[البقره: 222/2] meaning, "Your wives are your fields, so come to your field as you wish."

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 2250)
In the aforementioned verse, by «﴿أَنَّىشِئْتُمْ﴾» it is meant that you may have intercourse with your wife in whatever manner you wish—lying down, sitting, or standing. The word «حَرْثَكُمْ» indicates that anal intercourse (wat’i fi’d-dubr) is not intended here, because the anus is not a tilth.
This verse was revealed in refutation of the Jews, who used to say that if a man has intercourse with a woman from behind in her private part, the child will be born cross-eyed.
Intercourse in the anus (dubr) is forbidden (haram).
It is narrated in Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah (1923) that Allah Ta’ala will not look with mercy upon the person who has intercourse in the anus with a man or a woman.
This act is extremely filthy and contrary to humanity; the curse of Allah befalls such a person. The people of Lut (alayhis salam) committed this act, so Allah Ta’ala sent punishment upon them, rained stones upon them, and utterly destroyed and annihilated them. May Allah Ta’ala protect every Muslim from this evil deed, Ameen.
Even in today’s world, those who commit such acts are afflicted with terrible diseases as dreadful punishments; the real cause of the disease AIDS is this very sodomy.
Islam has taken preventive measures against this storm; if only people would understand and act upon it.
