It is narrated from Sayyida Umm Salama (may Allah be pleased with her) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) married her, he stayed with her for three days and said: "Your status is not less in my sight. If you wish, I can stay with you for seven days, then I will stay with each wife for seven days in the same way." (And then after all, your turn will come, but she said: Stay with each one in turn for one day and then come to me.)
This hadith also supports the previous hadith, that one should stay with a previously married woman (thayyibah) for three days and with a virgin (bikr) for seven days; then, the turns among all wives should be distributed equally and alternately. And the statement of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, "You are not of lesser status to me," was most likely to console her, because the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam had married her after her husband's death, whom she loved very much.
From these ahadith, it is also understood that leaving all work aside and spending an entire month as a honeymoon is not correct, which in Arabic is called "shahr al-asal."
