أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، أَنَّهَا أَخْبَرَتْهُ أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، قَالَ: "الَّذِي يَشْرَبُ فِي آنِيَةٍ مِنْ فِضَّةٍ، فَإِنَّمَا يُجَرْجِرُ فِي بَطْنِهِ نَارَ جَهَنَّمَ".
Lady Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever drinks anything from a silver vessel is kindling the fire of Hell in his belly."
Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 2165)
The root of «يُجَرْجِرُ» is «جَرْجَرَة», which is used for the sound made by a camel when it bellows in the sihani (trough). Thus, it is understood that the fire of Hell will produce a sound in the belly of the one who drinks water from a silver vessel, similar to the sound made by a camel.
«(اَللّٰهُمَّ أَعِذْنَا مِنْهَا، آمين)» (Maulana Raz rahimahullah).
