Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he saw a man drinking water while standing, so he said: "Vomit it out." The man asked: Why? He said: "Would you like to drink water with a cat?" He replied: No. He said: "A devil worse than a cat has drunk water with you."

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadiths 2163 to 2165)
In this hadith, it is stated that the person who was drinking water while standing, the Shaytan drank water along with him. The Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) saw this with his own eyes, and thus he said, "Vomit it out," just as you would not like to drink water with an animal, so how can you prefer to drink with the accursed Shaytan?
In this, there is a severe warning against drinking water while standing.
In the previous chapter, it was learned from an authentic hadith that drinking water while standing is permissible, and the true guide, the Prophet Muhammad (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), also drank Zamzam water while standing. And here, from the hadiths of this chapter, the prohibition of drinking water while standing is understood. The way to reconcile these is that the prohibition should be understood as being for the sake of discouragement (tanzih), and the action of the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) should be understood as indicating permissibility (ibahah), meaning that if one occasionally drinks while standing, there is no harm, but drinking while sitting is superior.
A companion mentioned the statement of a doctor that those who drink water while sitting will never suffer from the disease of urinary incontinence (continuous dripping of urine).
