Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Nabidh used to be prepared for the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in a waterskin. If there was no waterskin, then Nabidh used to be prepared for him in a stone pot or bowls.

Nabeedh is a type of drink that is made by soaking dates; at night, some dates are placed in water, and in the morning, they are squeezed and drunk. This drink is very delicious, nutritious, and strengthening. The Noble Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) used to drink it. However, if this nabeedh is prepared in a vessel used for wine and left in the sun, or if it is left in the vessel for a few days, it becomes intoxicating. In such a case, drinking nabeedh is forbidden when it begins to ferment and intoxication is produced.
There is a hadith that if nabeedh begins to boil (ferment), then throw it against a stone; only he will drink it who does not believe in Allah and the Day of Judgment.
From this hadith, it is understood that drinking the date beverage nabeedh is permissible provided that it does not become intoxicating, and this nabeedh can be prepared in any vessel, whether it is made of clay, stone, copper, or any other material.
