Hadith 2095

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Ja'far (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) eating fresh dates with cucumber.

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 2094)

From this hadith, the permissibility of eating various types of food and vegetables together is established.

The meaning of the narration of Ibn Majah (3324) is that cucumber, when eaten with dates, makes the body stout and is also delicious.

It is said that cucumber is cold (in temperament) and dates are hot, and they are corrective for each other, meaning the heat and intensity of dates is moderated by cucumber and melon.

And Allah knows best.
