Hadith 2089

Sayyiduna Abu Usaid Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Eat olive oil, for indeed it is blessed, and make curry with it, and apply its oil, for it is from a blessed tree."

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 2088)

In this hadith, the mention is of "zayt," meaning oil in general, but what is intended here is zayt al-zaytun or olive oil, which is used for eating, drinking, and applying to the head and body.

Olive oil has great benefits; Allah Ta'ala has mentioned it in the Noble Qur'an in Surah An-Nur, stating that it is from a blessed tree.
