Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) liked bottle gourd. When it was presented before him, I would pick it up and place it before him.

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadiths 2086 to 2088)
Bottle gourd (lauki) and pumpkin (kadu) are well-known vegetables, and excellent curries and stews are made from them. The long bottle gourd is cold and moist in temperament, repels fever and palpitation, and removes bodily heat and dryness. It relieves constipation and hemorrhoids. Pumpkin (peetha) also has the same properties. Although eating gourd is not a religious act such that its love becomes obligatory, yet the love of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) necessitates that every Muslim should have an inclination towards gourd, just as Sayyiduna Anas (radi Allahu anhu) said.
(Wahidi)
From this hadith, it is established that accepting the food and invitation of a tailor is permissible. Also, the humility and modesty of the Noble Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) is evident, in that he ate an ordinary vegetable with great fondness and eagerness.
There is a lesson in this for those people who cannot swallow a morsel at an invitation unless there is meat or chicken.
