It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that a bowl (dish) filled with tharid was brought to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He said: "Eat from its edges, and do not eat from its center, for blessing descends in its center."

From this hadith, it is understood that one should eat together in one place; eating from what is in front of oneself and from the edge is among the etiquettes of eating. Furthermore, the acceptance of gifts and presents by the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) demonstrates his humility and good character. Also, when the Islamic etiquettes of eating are observed, blessings descend upon the food.
