Abu al-Yaman said: My grandmother Umm Asim (may Allah have mercy on her) narrated that the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), Nubaisha, came to us while we were eating food. We invited him, and he began to eat with us. Then he said that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) narrated to us: "Whoever eats from a large dish (or plate) and then licks it clean, that plate (or dish) will supplicate for his forgiveness."

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 2065)
In this hadith, the supplication (du'a) of inanimate objects (jamadat) is mentioned, which can be understood as literal reality as well, because Allah Ta'ala is capable of everything, and out of happiness at the appreciation of His blessing, He may grant even inanimate objects the power of speech—this is His unique attribute.
Some scholars have said that the supplication of the plate and dish means that wiping them (clean) will become a cause for forgiveness for the person, because this indicates humility and modesty.
