Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abi Awfa (may Allah be pleased with him) said: We participated in seven expeditions with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and we used to eat locusts.

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 2048)

Eating locusts is permissible without hesitation; it is both a natural gift and a form of punishment, because wherever they attack, crops are destroyed. It is permissible to eat locusts without slaughtering them, just as it is permissible to eat fish without slaughtering it, and its consumption is lawful.

Two dead animals have been made lawful for us: locusts and fish.” It is permissible to eat them without slaughtering, and its details are coming ahead.
