Hadith 2028

Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) a narration with the same meaning as this hadith. Imam Darimi (may Allah have mercy on him) was asked: What is your opinion about the skin of foxes if it has been tanned? He replied: I consider it disliked (because the fox is not lawful to eat, its consumption is not permissible).

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 2027)

From these authentic ahadith, it is established that the skin of a dead animal can be used after being tanned, even after the animal's death.
It is better that it be from an animal whose meat is lawful to eat (makool al-lahm).
And Allah knows best.
