باب تَغَيُّرِ الزَّمَانِ وَمَا يَحْدُثُ فِيهِ:Chapter: Changing Times and What Occurs in Them
Hadith 192
أَخْبَرَنَا أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَوْنٍ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ: "كَيْفَ أَنْتُمْ إِذَا لَبِسَتْكُمْ فِتْنَةٌ يَهْرَمُ فِيهَا الْكَبِيرُ وَيَرْبُو فِيهَا الصَّغِيرُ، إِذَا تُرِكَ مِنْهَا شَيْءٌ، قِيلَ: تُرِكَتْ السُّنَّةُ"، قَالُوا: وَمَتَى ذَاكَ ؟، قَالَ: "إِذَا ذَهَبَتْ عُلَمَاؤُكُمْ، وَكَثُرَتْ جُهَلَاؤُكُمْ، وَكَثُرَتْ قُرَّاؤُكُمْ، وَقَلَّتْ فُقَهَاؤُكُمْ، وَكَثُرَتْ أُمَرَاؤُكُمْ، وَقَلَّتْ أُمَنَاؤُكُمْ، وَالْتُمِسَتْ الدُّنْيَا بِعَمَلِ الْآخِرَةِ، وَتُفُقِّهَ لِغَيْرِ الدِّينِ".
It is narrated from Alqamah that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: What will you do during times of tribulation when in those tribulations the old will become elderly and the child will grow up? When something (an innovation) is abandoned in those tribulations, it will be said that a Sunnah has been abandoned. The people asked: When will that happen? He replied: When your scholars will perish and the ignorant will become numerous, there will be many reciters (of the Qur'an) but few jurists, many leaders but few trustworthy people, people will seek the world instead of working for the Hereafter, and other things will be learned instead of the religion.
