Hadith 1915

Muhammad bin Abi Bakr al-Thaqafi said: While going from Mina to Arafat, I asked Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) about the Talbiyah, "What would you people say along with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?" He replied: If someone proclaimed the Talbiyah, no objection was raised against him, and if someone proclaimed the Takbir, he was not prevented from doing so.

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadiths 1913 to 1915)
On the day of Arafah, from the morning of the ninth (of Dhul-Hijjah), according to all the Imams, the Takbirat of the two Eids begin, and after entering into the state of ihram, the talbiyah of Hajj also begins. Therefore, the noble Companions «اللّٰه أكبر، اللّٰه أكبر، لا إله إلا اللّٰه واللّٰه أكبر ...... الخ» would recite (the takbir) and «لبيك اللّٰهم لبيك ...... الخ» would also recite (the talbiyah), and both forms of remembrance are legislated, so no one would object to the other. Thus, reciting both phrases is permissible.
