باب تَغَيُّرِ الزَّمَانِ وَمَا يَحْدُثُ فِيهِ:Chapter: Changing Times and What Occurs in Them
Hadith 191
أَخْبَرَنَا أَخْبَرَنَا يَعْلَى، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ شَقِيقٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ: "كَيْفَ أَنْتُمْ إِذَا لَبِسَتْكُمْ فِتْنَةٌ يَهْرَمُ فِيهَا الْكَبِيرُ وَيَرْبُو فِيهَا الصَّغِيرُ، وَيَتَّخِذُهَا النَّاسُ سُنَّةً، فَإِذَا غُيِّرَتْ، قَالُوا: غُيِّرَتْ السُّنَّةُ"، قَالُوا: وَمَتَى ذَلِكَ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ؟، قَالَ: "إِذَا كَثُرَتْ قُرَّاؤُكُمْ، وَقَلَّتْ فُقَهَاؤُكُمْ، وَكَثُرَتْ أُمَرَاؤُكُمْ، وَقَلَّتْ أُمَنَاؤُكُمْ، وَالْتُمِسَتِ الدُّنْيَا بِعَمَلِ الْآخِرَةِ".
Shaqiq (bin Salamah) narrates that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "What will you do when you are surrounded by such tribulations in which the young will become old and the child will become a youth, and people will take these tribulations (innovations) as Sunnah, and when someone tries to change them, people will say: 'The Sunnah has been changed.' People asked: 'Abu Abdur Rahman! When will this happen?' He replied: 'When your reciters (scholars) will be many and jurists will be few, rulers will be many but trustworthy ones will be few, and deeds will be for the sake of the world instead of the Hereafter.'"
