Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 1897)
From this hadith, the virtue of performing ‘umrah in Ramadan is established. In this blessed month, the status of voluntary acts (nawafil) becomes equal to that of obligatory acts (fara’id), and the reward for obligatory acts increases seventyfold. Regarding this, Allah the Exalted has said: “Fasting is for Me, and I alone will give its reward.”
Therefore, any good deed performed in Ramadan carries a tremendous reward; charity, almsgiving, and ‘umrah are all included in this virtue.
