It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed four Umrahs: the first Umrah at the time of (the treaty of) Hudaybiyyah, the second in the following year as Umrat al-Qada or, as it is said, as Umrat al-Qisas—this was the doubt of Shahab bin ‘Abbad—the third Umrah from Ji‘ranah, and the fourth Umrah along with his Hajj.

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 1895)
This hadith has already been mentioned under number (1825). The meaning is clear: after the Hijrah, the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) performed four ‘umrahs, which in reality were three. He set out with the intention of performing ‘umrah at the time of the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah, but a treaty was concluded and the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) was unable to perform the ‘umrah. The following year, in accordance with the peace agreement, he performed the ‘umrah, which was, in effect, a make-up (‘qada’) for the previous ‘umrah. For this reason, it was called ‘Umrat al-Qada’ or ‘Umrat al-Qisas’—the compensatory ‘umrah. The second ‘umrah was performed from Ji‘ranah after the Battle of Hunayn, and the fourth was performed along with the Hajj.
