It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that during the Farewell Pilgrimage, a woman asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) for a religious ruling, and Sayyiduna Fadl ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), the brother of Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both), was riding behind the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). She said: O Messenger of Allah! Allah has made Hajj obligatory upon His servants, but my father is very old and cannot even sit on a mount. If I perform Hajj on his behalf, will his Hajj be fulfilled? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "Yes, it will be fulfilled."
