Sayyiduna Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I will narrate to you a hadith; perhaps Allah will benefit you with it later. Angels used to greet me with salam. Ibn Ziyad ordered me to cauterize my wounds, (so upon doing so) the salam stopped until the marks of cauterization disappeared (then the salam resumed). And listen, after performing ‘Umrah, Allah’s Book has made it lawful to come out of Ihram, and the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) neither forbade it nor is there any prohibition of it in the Qur’an. A man, relying on his own opinion, said otherwise thinking it to be correct.

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 1850)
The detail of this summary is that the Commander of the Faithful, Sayyiduna Uthman and Sayyiduna Umar (radi Allahu anhuma), used to prohibit opening the state of ihram after performing Hajj al-Tamattu‘ or ‘Umrah. The reference here is to them. This was their ijtihad (independent juristic reasoning), because the Noble Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) performed Hajj al-Qiran and remained in the state of ihram even after ‘Umrah, although he (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) had said: “Open your ihram; if I had not brought the sacrificial animal (hady), I would have done the same.” Therefore, most of the Companions opened their ihram and were adherents of mut‘ah or tamattu‘ (combining ‘Umrah with Hajj in one journey). Sayyiduna Uthman (radi Allahu anhu) opposed them. The details of this will come ahead in the 78th chapter.
Also, the case of Sayyiduna Imran ibn Husayn (radi Allahu anhu) is that he suffered from a severe illness of hemorrhoids, but he exercised patience and hoped for reward from Allah, so the angels would come and greet him with salam. When he had his hemorrhoidal lumps cauterized with fire, this series of greetings ceased.
In this is the greatness and rank of this noble Companion, that the angels would come and greet him with salam, and it is exactly as the saying goes: “If he wrings out his garment, the angels would perform ablution (wudu) with it.”
