Hadith 1802

Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The Day of Arafah and the Days of Tashreeq are the days of Eid for us, the people of Islam, and these are days of eating and drinking."

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 1801)

The Day of Arafah is the 9th of Dhul-Hijjah, and the Days of Tashreeq are from the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah to the 13th of Dhul-Hijjah. During these days, it is not permissible for the pilgrim (haji) to fast, because it is possible that fasting may become unbearably difficult for the pilgrim, and as a result, he may not be able to supplicate (dua) and remember Allah (adhkar) as is due.
