Hadith 1687

From this chain as well, a narration similar to the previous one is reported from Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him).

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadiths 1684 to 1687)

From these narrations, it is established that if a person receives some gift of wealth or property from the public treasury (bayt al-mal) without asking for it and without coveting it, then there is no harm in accepting it. After receiving it, the person has the choice to either mix it with his own wealth or to give it in charity. In the narration of al-Nasa’i, there is also the addition of «فتموله أو تصدق به», meaning: make it your own wealth or give it in charity.

And Allah knows best.
