Hadith 1669

Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrated that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent Sayyiduna Mu’adh (may Allah be pleased with him) to Yemen, he said: “Avoid taking their best wealth (as zakat).”

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 1668)

In this hadith, the prohibition of selecting the best quality wealth for zakat is understood, meaning that the wealth taken as zakat should neither be of very high quality nor of poor quality, but rather it should be of average quality between the two.
