Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) also narrated a report with the same meaning from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
Hadith Referenceسنن دارمي / من كتاب العيدين / 1650
The relevance of this hadith to the chapter is that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) encouraged women to give charity and alms. In other narrations, it is mentioned that he (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said regarding women: “Most of the inhabitants of Hell will be women,” and the reason given was that they frequently complain, curse, and are ungrateful to their husbands. And this is the actual state of affairs; generally, this is the condition of women. Even if a husband treats his wife with kindness and nobility throughout his life, if, God forbid, she faces a little hardship, she begins to wail and claims that she has never seen peace or comfort in this house. In this way, by being ungrateful to their husbands, they become fuel for Hell. May Allah grant them understanding, Ameen.
From this hadith, it is established that women may give their jewelry in charity and alms. It is also established that women would come in groups to the Eid prayer ground (Eidgah), and why should they not, when this was the command of the Beloved of the Universe, the Pride of the Two Worlds (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), which the women of that era understood and acted upon better than the (self-styled) jurists of today.
In this hadith, there is also evidence for delivering a special sermon to women, as well as for admonishing them, teaching them piety and religious rites, and encouraging them to give charity and alms (and Allah knows best).
