Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 1646)
From this hadith, it is established that in times of necessity, delivering the sermon while seated on a mount is permissible. The aforementioned sermon was being delivered by the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) in the plain of Arafat on the Day of Arafat, as is explicitly mentioned in Musnad Ahmad.
