باب الْفُتْيَا وَمَا فِيهِ مِنَ الشِّدَّةِ:Chapter: The Seriousness of Giving Religious Verdicts
Hadith 161
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي أَيُّوبَ، حَدَّثَنِي بَكْرُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْمَعَافِرِيُّ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: "مَنْ أُفْتِيَ بِفُتْيَا مِنْ غَيْرِ ثَبْتٍ فَإِنَّمَا إِثْمُهُ عَلَى مَنْ أَفْتَاهُ".
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): If a person is given a fatwa without evidence or proof, then its sin is upon the one who gave the fatwa.
