Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I prayed with the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and his prayer was moderate and his sermon was also moderate (that is, neither long nor very short).

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadiths 1594 to 1596)
From these hadiths, it is established that the Friday sermon (khutbah) should not be excessively long. Furthermore, in «وَإِنَّمِنَالْبَيَانِسِحْرًا», there is an indication that the preacher (khatib) should adopt such a style and manner of speech that is effective, full of information, and replete with admonition and exhortation. This is precisely the wisdom of the preacher: that despite brevity, the sermon is beneficial, and the prayer is performed with tranquility and composure, observing the proper fulfillment of its pillars, and is relatively longer.
Delivering sermons in rote-learned Arabic, which the listeners cannot understand, is contrary to the spirit of the sermon.
