باب مَنْ هَابَ الْفُتْيَا وَكَرِهَ التَّنَطُّعَ وَالتَّبَدُّعَ:Chapter: Those Who Feared Giving Fatwa and Disliked Excessiveness and Innovation
Hadith 155
أَخْبَرَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا الصَّلْتُ بْنُ رَاشِدٍ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ طَاوُسًا عَنْ مَسْأَلَةٍ، فَقَالَ لِي: كَانَ هَذَا ؟، قُلْتُ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: آللَّهِ، قُلْتُ: آللَّهِ، ثُمّ قَالَ: إِنَّ أَصْحَابَنَا أَخْبَرُونَا عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ رَضِيَ اللهُ عَنْهُ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ: "يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ، لَا تَعْجَلُوا بِالْبَلَاءِ قَبْلَ نُزُولِهِ , فَيُذْهَبُ بِكُمْ هَهُنَا وَهَهُنَا، فَإِنَّكُمْ إِنْ لَمْ تَعْجَلُوا بِالْبَلَاءِ قَبْلَ نُزُولِهِ، لَمْ يَنْفَكَّ الْمُسْلِمُونَ أَنْ يَكُونَ فِيهِمْ مَنْ إِذَا سُئِلَ، سُدَّدَ، وَإِذَا قَالَ , وُفِّقَ".
Salat bin Rashid said: I asked Imam Tawus, may Allah have mercy on him, about a certain issue, so he inquired: Has this issue actually occurred? I said: Yes. He said: Swear that it has happened. I said: By Allah, it has happened. Then he said: Our companions have informed us from our master Mu'adh bin Jabal, may Allah be pleased with him, that he said: Do not be hasty regarding calamity and affliction before it descends, for it may mislead you here and there. If you are not hasty before the calamity descends, you will not be able to avoid it when it comes. As long as there are people who, when asked, give correct answers, and when they speak, they speak correctly.
