Hadith 15

أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ خَلِيلٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، قَالَ: كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُنَادِيهِمْ: "يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ، إِنَّمَا أَنَا رَحْمَةٌ مُهْدَاةٌ".
It is narrated from Abu Salih that the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him) used to call out to them, saying: "O people! I am the mercy that has been gifted."
Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadiths 5 to 15)
❀ The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is the embodiment of mercy.
❀ He is a priceless gift of divine power for mankind.
❀ These narrations also establish the virtue and esteemed status of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, that in the balance (mizan), he outweighs all others.
❀ Furthermore, from birth itself, Allah Ta'ala’s mercy and favor were with him.
❀ The description of the Seal of Prophethood (muhra nubuwwah) is also established from other authentic ahadith. See: Bukhari (3540, 190), Muslim (2345).
