Hadith 1445

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The angels continue to pray for a servant as long as he remains seated in the place where he performed prayer, and does not stand up from that place nor break his ablution. The angels say: O Allah, forgive him. O Allah, have mercy on him."

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 1444)
From this hadith, the virtue of sitting in one’s place after the prayer to engage in remembrance (dhikr), supplication (du‘a), and recitation (tilawah) is established. For such a person, the angels also supplicate for mercy and forgiveness, which is very likely to be accepted. And whoever is granted forgiveness, upon him descends mercy—who could be more fortunate than this?

However, nowadays some worshippers, after the imam completes the prayer with salam, are eager to leave the mosque as quickly as possible.

In one hadith, it is stated: As long as you wait for the prayer, it is as if you are in the state of prayer itself. In this, the virtue of remaining seated while waiting for the prayer is mentioned.
