Hadith 1417

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) disliked Sadl, and he attributed this dislike to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him).

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 1416)

Imam Khattabi rahimahullah said: "Sadl" is when one lets the garment hang down out of pride and arrogance, so that it drags on the ground.

It is stated in "Nihayah": Sadl is when one drapes the garment over from above and lets it hang down, as the Jews do.

Some scholars have said: To cover the head with a sheet and let it hang down without wrapping it around oneself (not tying it).

Some have said: In the case of a jubba (cloak), sadl is to wear it without putting the hands into the sleeves (as stated by Allamah Waheed al-Zaman).

In some ahadith, there is explicit prohibition of sadl, as can be known from the takhreej (referencing of hadith sources).
