Sayyar bin Salamah said: I went with my father to the service of Sayyiduna Abu Barzah Aslami (may Allah be pleased with him), who was in a bamboo hut. My father asked him about the prayer times of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so Sayyiduna Abu Barzah (may Allah be pleased with him) informed that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) «هجير» which you call Dhuhr, used to pray at the time of the sun's decline, and when he would pray the Asr prayer, any one of us could return to his house at the farthest end of Madinah and the sun would still be bright. Sayyar said: I do not remember what he said about Maghrib, and the Isha prayer, which you «عتمة», he used to prefer to delay it, and he would finish the Fajr prayer at a time when a man could recognize the person sitting next to him, and in this (Fajr) prayer he would recite sixty to one hundred verses.

(Commentary on Ahadith 1331 to 1336) From all the aforementioned ahadith, the amount of recitation in the Fajr prayer is known, which was mostly lengthy, as in this last narration it is mentioned that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam used to recite from 60 to 100 verses in the Fajr prayer. Occasionally, he would also recite from the shorter surahs of the Mufassal, such as Surah at-Takweer, etc. In this last hadith, the times of prayer are also mentioned, which have already been discussed in previous chapters.
