باب قَدْرِ الْقِرَاءَةِ في الْفَجْرِ:Chapter: Amount of recitation in Fajr
Hadith 1334
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمَسْعُودِيُّ، عَنْ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ سَرِيعٍ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ حُرَيْثٍ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ "يَقْرَأُ فِي صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ إِذَا الشَّمْسُ كُوِّرَتْ، فَلَمَّا انْتَهَى إِلَى هَذِهِ الْآيَةِ وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا عَسْعَسَ سورة التكوير آية 17، جَعَلْتُ أَقُولُ فِي نَفْسِي: مَا اللَّيْلُ إِذَا عَسْعَسَ ؟ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Amr bin Harith (may Allah be pleased with him) that he heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) reciting « ﴿إِذَا الشَّمْسُ كُوِّرَتْ﴾ » in the Fajr prayer. When he (peace and blessings be upon him) reached this verse «﴿وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا عَسْعَسَ﴾», I began to wonder in my heart what is the meaning of «﴿وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا عَسْعَسَ﴾» (when the night declines).
