Hadith 123

Hammad bin Yazid narrated from his father that one day a man came to Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) and asked him about something of which I have no knowledge. So Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) said: "Do not ask about something that has not occurred. I heard Umar bin Al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) curse the person who asks about things that have not (yet) happened."

Brief Explanation
(Commentary on Hadith 122)

The condemnation of asking hypothetical (farḍī) questions is understood from this.
And the one who asks fabricated issues and fatwas is accursed, and this curse is in the words of Sayyiduna Umar radi Allahu anhu, about whom the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: «عَلَيْكُمْ بِسُنَّتِي وَسُنَّةِ الْخُلَفَاءِ الرَّاشِدِينَ الْمَهْدِيِّينَ عَضُّوا عَلَيْهَا بِالنَّوَاجِذِ» (see Hadith number 96).
